Niagara County Community College overcame a poor shooting night as it picked up a 74-68 Western New York Athletic Conference home victory over Monroe Community College on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Tribunes fell to 2-4, 0-1.
NCCC sophomore point guard Aichata Ballo finished with a triple double - 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Classmate Jenna Slader netted a team-high 19 points, while sophomore Ashley Tucker chipped in with 12 points and nine boards.
Also for NCCC, which used a 27-16 third-quarter surge to take control of the game, freshman Alita Carey-Santangelo scored 11 points and sophomore Ashlynn Johnson added nine points and 10 rebounds.
The T-Wolves return to the court at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference contest at Finger Lakes Community College.
