Women's hoops wins fifth straight regional title

Niagara County Community College earned a hard-fought 65-60 win over visiting Jamestown Community College in the Region III Division II championship on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves (28-3) have now won five consecutive regional titles - the only five in program history. 

Tournament Most Valuable Player honors went to sophomore point guard Aichata Ballo, who led NCCC with 14 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and five steals. Sophomore wing Ashlynn Johnson joined Ballo on the All-Tournament team as she finished with 14 points, 11 boards and four assists. 

Sophomore forward Ashley Tucker was also named to the All-Tournament team for the T-Wolves, who corralled 25 offensive rebounds in the win.

The T-Wolves advance to next Saturday's NJCAA Division II East District Championship at SUNY Sullivan.
