Gissendaner earns All-American honors

Niagara County Community College sophomore Frankie Gissendaner recently earned NJCAA All-American honors after finishing in eighth place in the 141-pound bracket at the National Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Gissendaner, Region III's Most Outstanding Wrestler, is the 54th All-American in NCCC wrestling history.

Gissendaner, who lost his opening match and battled his way back through the consolation bracket, medically defaulted to his finish. The two-time All-American - Gissendaner also took fourth place at 149 pounds in 2019-20 - finished the season with an overall record of 17-1. He wraps up his NCCC career with a mark of 45-4.

Meanwhile, the freshman trio of Anthony Kuhn (125), Justin McDougald (165) and Ameer Ladd (285) each finished 2-2 and classmates Cole French (133) and Warren McDougald (174) were 1-2. Sophomores Nik Voelker (149) and David Crow (157) went 0-2 in their bracket.

The Thunderwolves finished 19th overall in team scoring with 25.5 points. Their total was good for fourth place among non-scholarship schools.
