NCCC falls to high-scoring Hornets

Niagara County Community College surrendered six first-half goals and couldn't recover as it dropped its season opener, 8-1, at SUNY Broome on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves fell to 0-1, while the Hornets are now 2-0 in Region III action.

NCCC sophomore Kara Seguin, a returning all-conference performer, scored the lone T-Wolves goal off an assist from freshman Olivia Stone. Fellow frosh Savanna Burczyk made nine saves in net as N-Trip was out-shot 32-2 in the setback.

Arianna Michitti had a hat trick and Dana Stepp added two goals and four assists for the high-powered Hornets.

The Thunderwolves open the home portion of their schedule at Noon Saturday when SUNY Adirondack visits the Sanborn campus. That tilt is followed by a home date with Hudson Valley CC. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
