Seguin leads NCCC to first win

Niagara County Community College sophomore Kara Seguin finished with two goals and an assist as the host Thunderwolves knocked off Jamestown Community College, 3-0, in Region III action on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first win for new NCCC head coach Nick DeMarsh, who spent 19 seasons at Buffalo State College.

The T-Wolves improved to 1-4 overall, while the Jayhawks slipped to 0-6.

Seguin opened the scoring early in the first half when she buried a pass from mid-field off the foot of freshman Kasey Miranto.

Seguin scored her second goal with less than two minutes before the half when she took a pass from Michaela Reed and put it past the JCC goalkeeper.

The Thunderwolves got insurance early in the second half when freshman Olivia Stone scored her first collegiate goal. Seguin was credited with the assist.

N-Trip freshman Alyssa Aceti picked up her first career shutout, making four saves.

NCCC returns to the pitch at 6 p.m. Thursday when it travels to regional foe Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
