NCCC falls in straight sets to rival Kats

Niagara County Community College had its home opener spoiled by the rival Kats of Erie Community College on Thursday night. The scores were 25-21, 25-18 and 25-15 in favor of the visitors. NCCC fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Western New York Athletic Conference, while ECC improved to 5-5, 1-0.

NCCC sophomore Kaitlin Hoadley had a strong outing, finishing with a team-high 20 assists and five kills. Classmate Marissa Dusza put down six kills, second-year libero Jocelyn Swierski had 15 digs and sophomore Alexia Bleuer chipped in five kills and six digs in the loss.

Molly McKinnon had 10 kills for Erie CC.

The Thunderwolves return to action at 9 a.m. Sunday for a series of Region III pod matches at ECC's Flickinger Center. Opponents include: Hudson Valley CC, SUNY Adirondack and Jamestown CC.
