NCCC finishes 1-2 at Erie CC Pod

Niagara County Community College finished 1-2 in Region III pod action for the second consecutive weekend. The Thunderwolves knocked off SUNY Adirondack, while falling to Hudson Valley Community College and Jamestown Community College. NCCC, which returns to the court for another regional pod on Saturday at JCC, is now 2-5 on the young season.

Niagara CCC 3, SUNY Adirondack 0

NCCC sophomore Gianna Smalley had a career-high 12 kills in the three-game sweep. The scores were: 25-22, 25-20 and 25-16 in favor of the T-Wolves. Also for N-Trip, sophomore Alexia Bleuer put down nine kills and classmate Marissa Dusza added seven kills. Sophomore setter Kaitlin Hoadley had a season-best 33 assists and second-year libero Jocelyn Swierski finished with 18 digs.

Hudson Valley CC 3, Niagara CCC 1

Bleuer had nine kills, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings won by scores of: 20-25, 27-25, 25-17 and 25-17. Dusza ripped seven kills, Smalley had six kills, Hoadley added 29 assists and Swierski had 16 digs in the loss.

Jamestown CC 3, Niagara CCC 0

Hoadley had 21 assists, but NCCC was swept by its conference rival. The scores were 25-23, 25-16 and 25-19 in favor of the Jayhawks. Bleuer had eight kills and Swierski chipped in with 13 digs in the setback.
