Matikosh named to UB Athletics HOF

Niagara County Community College head women’s volleyball coach Lindsay Matikosh was recently announced as a member of the Dr. and Mrs. Edmond J. Gicewicz Family University at Buffalo Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Matikosh was a standout on the UB volleyball team from 2000-03. After being named the team's top newcomer in 2000, Matikosh went on to be named the squad's most valuable player each of her final three seasons.

Matikosh ranks second in school history in career kills with 1,450 and fourth in career digs with 1,414, making her the only UB player to rank in the top five in both categories. In addition, her 4.12 points-per-game average is still tops all-time in program history.

A North Tonawanda High School Hall of Famer, Matikosh won three state championships, was a four-time all-state selection and was named New York State Player of Year in 1999. She is currently in her eighth season as the head coach at NCCC.

The induction ceremony for the 2023 UB Athletics Hall of Fame Class will be held in February.
