NCCC drops five-set thriller to Tribunes

Niagara County Community College dropped a five-set heartbreaker to host Monroe Community College in Western New York Athletic Conference action on Thursday night.

The scores were: 25-27, 23-25, 25-23, 27-25 and 15-9 in favor of the Tribunes. NCCC dropped to 3-11 overall, while the MCC moved to 8-10.

NCCC sophomore Alexia Bleuer had a season-best 13 kills, while the second-year trio of Noor Kadhum, Kaitlin Hoadley and Gianna Smalley ripped eight kills apiece. Hoadley, the squad's setter, also had a career-high 39 assists and eight digs.

Also for N-Trip, sophomore Jocelyn Swierski finished with 25 digs and four service aces and freshman Maris Parmelee stuffed the stat sheet with five kills, eight digs and six aces.

Sydney Spence notched 16 kills to lead MCC.

The Thunderwolves return to action on Sun. Oct. 16 when they travel to Onondaga Community College for their final Region III pod of the season.
