NCCC splits matches at home pod

Host Niagara County Community College split a pair of matches at this past weekend's Region III pod.

The Thunderwolves also received a regional forfeit after Tompkins-Cortland Community College failed to have enough healthy players.

NCCC (3-10) returns to the court at 6 p.m. Thursday for a Western New York Athletic Conference match at Monroe Community College. 

Niagara CCC 3, Corning CC 0

Sophomore setter Kaitlin Hoadley had 25 assists, eight digs and six kills as the Thunderwolves earned the sweep via scores of: 25-15, 25-18 and 25-16. Also for NCCC, sophomore Gianna Smalley put down nine kills, classmate Marissa Dusza added seven kills and five service aces and second-year libero Jocelyn Swierski chipped in with 17 digs.

SUNY Broome 3, Niagara CCC 2

Despite eight kills from sophomore transfer Alexia Bleuer, the T-Wolves fell in five exhilarating sets. The scores were: 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-13 and 15-9 in favor of the Hornets. Dusza ripped seven kills, Hoadley notched 26 assists and Swierski had 19 digs in the loss.
