NCCC grinds out home win

Niagara County Community College gutted out a 73-66 Region III victory over visiting Genesee Community College on Saturday afternoon. The No. 13 Thunderwolves knocked down 26 free throws in a physical affair that included 54 fouls. NCCC is now 20-3 overall and 4-0 in regional play.

Sophomore forward David Petit-Homme had an impressive outing, finishing with a team-high 19 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Sophomore point guard Nigel Scantlebury had 15 points, seven assists and five boards, sophomore wing William Kondrat added 14 points and sophomore guard Mike Pollard chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Next up for the Thunderwolves is a matchup with fellow conference unbeaten and rival Erie Community College. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo.
