NCCC spikers pick up 2nd win

Niagara County Community College picked up its second win of the season at this past weekend's Region III pod matches hosted by SUNY Broome. The Thunderwolves are now 2-13 on the year with a Western New York Athletic Conference matchup slated for 6 p.m. Thursday at Erie CC.

Niagara CCC 25-25-25, Tompkins-Cortland CC 9-17-18

Freshman Madison Phillips finished with a team-high 11 kills and six service aces in the straight-set victory. Sophomore captain Lauren Wills had 27 assists and freshman Shannon Holt added nine kills.

SUNY Broome 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 17-23-17

Phillips again had double-digit kills with 10, but the T-Wolves fell in three sets to the host Hornets. Wills chipped in with 16 assists and three kills.

Corning CC 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 22-13-18

Phillips and Holt combined for 14 kills in the three-set loss. Wills had 17 assists.
