Make it 26 straight wins for Niagara County Community College baseball. The Thunderwolves swept visiting Corning CC in Region III action on Sunday to improve to 30-4 overall and 16-0 in regional play.
Niagara CCC 8, Corning CC 7
Freshman Brandon Nicholson hit a walk-off single to cap a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nicholson finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Classmate Julian Placencia had two hits and two RBIs and freshman lefty Michael Eagler moved to 4-0 with 1 2/3 innings of sound relief.
Niagara CCC 6, Corning CC 1
Freshman righty Evan Harof improved to 4-0 after tossing four innings of one-hit ball. First-year standout Nate Chase was 3-for-4 and Placencia had two RBIs in the win.
Next up for NCCC, which is ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, is a home doubleheader with rival Erie CC. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
