Niagara County Community College ran its winning streak to 28 games following a sweep of host Erie Community College in a Region III Western Division showdown Thursday afternoon. NCCC improves to 32-4 overall and 18-0 in regional play.

Sophomore Matt Matre improved to 5-0 on the year after tossing 6 1/3 solid innings. The right-hander allowed just two hits and struck out eight. Freshman southpaw Cameron Voss got the final two outs for his first save of the year. Freshman Brandon Nicholson was 3-for-4, while sophomore Brett Helmbrecht and freshman Zarley Cina were each credited with an RBI.

Freshman righty Christian Young moved to 5-0 on the hill after allowing just two hits and striking out eight in five innings of work. Cina was 2-for-3 with two RBIs at the dish, while sophomore Charles Edwards and freshman Joe Milkowski added two RBIs apiece.
Next up for the Thunderwolves is a road doubleheader at Finger Lakes CC. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
