NCCC well represented on All-Region team

Niagara County Community College recently had six players earn 2021 Region III Division III honors following a vote of regional coaches. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, are 30-9 overall and headed to the NJCAA Div. III World Series on May 29-June 3 in Greeneville, Tenn. 

Sophomore pitcher Ryan Peterson was a first-team selection as he currently leads the country in wins (9-0 record) and earned-run average (0.97). The southpaw also has seven complete games and 67 strikeouts to his credit.

Sophomore outfielder Scottie O'Bryan was also a first-team choice as he sits atop the national rankings with 35 stolen bases and is No. 3 in batting average (.487). He currently has 56 hits - including 14 doubles - 37 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

Freshman infielder Andrew Fairbrother was a first-team pick as he holds a .427 batting average with 56 hits, 33 RBIs and 40 runs scored.

Freshman infielder Cal Brazier was also a first-teamer as he hit .397 with 46 hits - including a team-high six home runs - 37 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

Freshman pitcher Chad Gartland was a second-team selection after he went 6-2 with five complete games, a 1.88 ERA and 61 strikeouts.

Sophomore catcher Joey Battaglia was named to the Region III Gold Glove team after making just one error in 165 total chances (.994 fielding percentage). He also had 154 putouts, 10 assists and caught six runners stealing.

Herkimer College's Yuzuki Okamura was named Player of the Year and Generals skipper Jason Rathbun was the Coach of the Year.
