NCCC powers past Corning

Niagara County Community College banged out 35 hits on its way to a sweep of host Corning Community College in Region III Western Division action on Tuesday. The Thunderwolves are now 17-7 overall and 8-2 in divisional play. Corning, meanwhile, dropped to 4-13, 0-12.

Niagara CCC 10, Corning CC 3

Freshman Andrew Fairbrother was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in the win. Sophomore Scottie O'Bryan also finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while the freshman trio of Chris Tani, Matt Ferris and Lance Baldensperger each had two hits and an RBI. Freshman Cal Brazier ripped a home run. Classmate Will Jackman threw 3.2 innings of hitless relief to get his second win of the season.

Niagara CCC 18, Corning CC 1 (5 inn.)

Tani went 1-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs in the victory. Fellow first-year player Cole Laskowski was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Brazier and Fairbrother each went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman Liam Reynolds got his first win of the season as he allowed just one hit and struck out six in four innings of work.
