NCCC sweeps rival Kats

Niagara County Community College earned a pair of pivotal victories over rival Erie Community College in a home Region III doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves are now 7-5 overall and 2-0 in Western Divisional games. ECC slips to 4-6, 0-2. The same two teams are scheduled for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Monday at ECC's North campus. 

Niagara CCC 13, Erie CC 3 (5 inn.)

Freshman Chad Gartland tossed five innings of three-hit ball in the win. He also had six Ks to move to 2-1 on the year. Freshmen Cal Brazier, Cole Laskowski and Lance Baldensperger each went 2-for-3 in the win. Baldensperger and classmates Chris Tani and Matt Ferris each had two RBIs.

Niagara CCC 3, Erie CC 0

Sophomore Ryan Peterson went the distance on the mound to improve to 3-0. He allowed just five hits and struck out six. Laskowski ripped an RBI triple and freshmen David Stirpe and Zach Evans added an RBI apiece in the Thunderwolves' three-run sixth inning.
