NCCC takes four straight from Cougars

Niagara County Community College remained hot as it took four consecutive Region III Western Division games from rival Genesee Community College this past weekend.

The Thunderwolves, who have won nine games in a row, improved to 21-7 overall and 12-2 in divisional play. GCC is now 8-16, 8-8.

NCCC takes on East Division-leading Herkimer College for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gutchess Park in Cortlandville. 

Niagara CCC 10, Genesee CC 0 (6 inn.)

Freshman Chad Gartland tossed a six-inning, one-hitter with eight strikeouts for NCCC. Sophomore Scottie O'Bryan was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, freshman Howard Stuckey finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and freshmen Zach Evans and Andrew Fairbrother each had two RBIs.

Niagara CCC 10, Genesee CC 0 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Ryan Peterson moved to 6-0 after he threw a five-inning, one-hitter with four Ks. O'Bryan was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, freshman Chris Tani was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Evans knocked in two more runs and Fairbrother ripped an RBI double.

Niagara CCC 13, Genesee CC 1 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Devaun Farnham allowed just two hits and no earned runs in five innings of work. Stuckey had a huge day, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Evans was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored and freshman Lance Baldensperger added two RBIs.

Niagara CCC 7, Genesee CC 2 

Freshman Dylan Crowley went the distance and gave up just three hits and two earned runs. He had seven Ks. Tani was 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored to lead the offense. Stuckey added two hits and an RBI.
