Niagara County Community College continued its hot streak with a pair of victories over the visiting Niagara Junior Thunderwolves Showcase squad this past Saturday. NCCC, winners of seven of its last eight games, improved to 12-6 overall and return to the diamond April 17-18 for a four-game, home-and-home series with Region III rival Finger Lakes Community College.
Niagara CCC 8, Junior Thunderwolves 0
Freshman Chad Gartland tossed five innings of one-hit ball with eight strikeouts to improve to 3-1 on the season. Classmate Andrew Fairbrother was 3-for-4 to lead the offense. Fellow first-year players Lance Baldensperger and Trent Wasserman each went 2-for-2 in the win.
Niagara CCC 5, Junior Thunderwolves 1
Sophomore Ryan Peterson improved to 4-0 on the season as he struck out 13 batters in a complete-game effort. Wasserman remained hot as well, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Freshman Cal Brazier was also 2-for-3.
