Evans has career day as NCCC rolls

Niagara County Community College freshman Zach Evans had a huge day at the plate as the Thunderwolves rolled past host Ithaca College JV in non-conference action on Friday afternoon. The nationally-ranked T-Wolves, winners of 10 straight ballgames, are now 27-7 overall.

Evans went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the offense. Classmate Alex Minnehan added two triples and scored twice, while the freshman trio of Andrew Fairbrother, Vincent Stutz and Howie Stuckey each contributed two RBIs. On the mound, sophomore Kyle Menaker got his fifth win as he struck out nine in five innings of work.

Evans was 3-for-4 with two grand slams, eight RBIs and three runs scored in the mercy-rule victory. Sophomore Chris Tani and freshman Trent Wasserman had two RBIs apiece and freshman Carter Arbuthnot added two hits and three runs scored.
