T-Wolves complete sweep of JCC

SUNY Niagara won a pair of Region III games Saturday afternoon at Diethrick Park to complete the regular-season sweep of Jamestown Community College. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 31-7 overall and 15-1 in regional play. It's a quick turnaround for the T-Wolves as they host Tompkins-Cortland Community College at 2 p.m. Sunday.

SUNY Niagara 15, Jamestown CC 1 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Andrew Damiani improved to 6-1 on the year as he allowed just two hits and struck out six in four innings of work. Freshman Gregory Lowry struck out the side in the fifth frame. At the plate, sophomore Steven Merkel was 3-for-5 with five RBIs and classmate Owen Silliman finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Also for the winners, Braden Hill was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Nigel Sebastianelli went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Gavyn Boyle ripped a two-run single. The freshman trio scored three runs apiece. 

SUNY Niagara 3, Jamestown CC 0 

Sophomore Andrew Johnson tossed all seven innings, improving to 4-1 on the season. The righty allowed just two hits and struck out five. Sophomore Nicholas Schulz was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs at the dish. Freshman Keygan Miksa and Merkel were each 2-for-3 in the victory.
