Thunderwolves continue to roll

SUNY Niagara swept past visiting Corning Community College in a Region III doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium.

The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 33-0 overall and 15-0 in regional play.

The Wolves return to action at Noon Thursday for a home twinbill vs. Jamestown Community College. 

SUNY Niagara 18, Corning CC 1 (5 inn.)

Freshman Morgan Shanaman improved to 4-0 on the mound with four solid innings of work. Freshman Dalton Harper led a strong offensive output, finishing 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored. Sophomore Nigel Sebastianelli was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored, freshman Cooper Rossano went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs and sophomore Adrian Salas clubbed a three-run home run. Also for the T-Wolves, freshman Joe Panzarella was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored and sophomore Braeden Dyck finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

SUNY Niagara 14, Corning CC 2 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Anthony Shortino was 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBIs in the win. Classmate Keygan Miksa finished 3-for-3 and plated three runs, freshman Mike Schaefer was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, sophomore Christopher Finocchario went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and two runs scored and second-year standout Braden Hill added a two-run triple and two runs scored. Freshman Jude Lowry moved to 2-0 on the bump as he tossed two innings.
