SUNY Niagara
SUNY Niagara won its ninth Region III Div. III championship this past weekend at Falcon Park in Auburn. The unbeaten Thunderwolves (49-0), who were ranked No. 2 in the final NJCAA Div. III poll, have tied the school record for wins in a season (49, 2022). SUNY Niagara advances to the NJCAA Div. III World Series, which will be played May 24-29 in Auburn.

Sophomore Aidan Paul improved to 7-0 on the mound as he allowed just three hits and struck out seven in five innings of work. Classmate Nigel Sebastianelli was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, sophomore Braeden Dyck went 2-for-3 with an RBI and fellow second-year standout Christopher Finocchario added a double and scored twice. Sophomore Gavyn Boyle along with the freshman duo of Cooper Rossano and Mike Schaefer scored two runs apiece.
SUNY Niagara 10, Herkimer College 0 (6 inn.)
Freshman Matt Barr gave up just two hits and struck out nine over six innings to improve to 9-0 on the year. Rossano had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Boyle was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, Finocchario went 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored and freshman Dalton Harper finished 2-for-2 with an RBI double. Sophomore Weston Thompson scored two runs in the win.
SUNY Niagara 18, Finger Lakes CC 6 (9 inn.)
Sophomore Eric Woodley moved to 8-0 on the bump as he allowed just two hits, two earned runs and struck out eight over seven frames. Boyle was a machine at the dish, finishing 3-for-3 with a home run, triple, double, seven RBIs and two runs scored. Thompson went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, sophomore Brady Hill was 4-for-4 two RBIs and two runs scored, Schaefer finished 4-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored and Sebastianelli was 4-for-6 with an RBI double and four runs scored. Rossano added two hits and an RBI and both Finocchario and Dyck scored two runs.
*Following the conclusion of the event, Boyle was named Tournament MVP. All-Tournament honors went to Paul, Barr, Woodley, Rossano, Hill and Thompson.
