NCCC takes first in pair of tourneys

Niagara County Community College continued its strong start to the links season with a pair of team victories at the Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNY Adirondack Invitationals this past weekend. The Thunderwolves, who have finished in the top two of each event thus far this season, look to stay hot with Region III tourneys slated for Chautuaqua Golf Club and Willowbrook Golf Course this coming Friday and Saturday.

Mohawk Valley CC Invitational

Freshman Sam Hyman shot a four-over par 75 to earn medalist honors at Oneida Community Golf Club as the T-Wolves accumulated 334 strokes - 18 less than their nearest competitor (Jefferson CC, 352). Sophomore Murphy Lang was fifth among individuals with an 84, while freshman Fred Waterman carded an 85 and classmate Cameron Cswaykus had a 90.

Sophomore Emily Neidrauer took first place on the women's side with a 96 - nine shots better than Mohawk Valley's Gianna Maio (105).

SUNY Adirondack Invitational

Despite dropping a match of cards for medalist honors, Hyman was again the low man for the T-Wolves as he shot a five-over par 77 at Hiland Park Country Club. NCCC had 332 total strokes, which was 11 better than second-place Jefferson CC (343). Lang and Waterman each shot 79 as they tied for fourth-place individually.

Neidrauer was again the female medalist as she fired an 89 - five shots clear of Maio.
