NCCC finishes fifth at golf nationals

Niagara County Community College finished in fifth place at this past week's NJCAA Div. III Men's Golf Tournament hosted by Jamestown Community College at the 6,559-yard, Par-72 Chautauqua Golf Club. It was NCCC's highest finish in school history. The Thunderwolves' four-man roster finished with 1,324 total strokes (318-336-329-341). Sandhills CC won the event by one stroke over Georgia Military College (1,198).

Freshman Sam Hyman led NCCC with a 13th-place finish. He shot rounds of 76, 76, 82 and 79 for a four-day total of 313 total strokes. His individual finish was the best in school history. Sophomore Murphy Lang, who was making his second appearance at the event, finished in 24th after firing rounds of 78, 88, 77 and 84 (327). Freshman Fred Waterman was 31st with rounds of 82, 85, 83 and 87 (337), while classmate Cameron Cswaykus finished in a tie for 36th with rounds of 82, 87, 87 and 91 (347). Other members of the squad that attended events surrounding the tournament included: freshman Steven Aldridge and sophomore Emily Neidrauer

Minnesota State Tech's Wyatt Bomseth won the individual title after finishing at three-over-par (73-76-70-72-291).
