SUNY Niagara sweeps weekend events

SUNY Niagara won a trio of Region III-sponsored tournaments this past weekend. The Thunderwolves have now won all four events they have entered this season. Next up, SUNY Niagara travels to Chatauqua Golf Club on Friday before hosting its own event on Saturday at Willowbrook Golf Course. 

Hudson Valley Invitational

The Thunderwolves had 328 total strokes, which was 13 better than runner-up Jefferson Community College at the Par-70 Normandside Country Club. Freshman Eliel Rodriguez shot an 80, but lost a match of cards to Jefferson's Nick Lennox for medalist honors. Freshman Ryan Kates was fourth with an 81, while classmate Teddy Swiech took fifth with an 81.

SUNY Adirondack Invitational

SUNY Niagara amassed 337 strokes, finishing 11 shots clear of Jefferson Community College at the Par-71 Brookhaven Golf Course. Rodriguez took first-place honors with an 80. Swiech was third with an 82 and Kates carded an 84.

Mohawk Valley Invitational

The T-Wolves had their best score of the weekend with 321 total strokes at the Par-71 Oneida Community Golf Club. Rodriguez shot a five-over-par 76 for his third medalist victory of the season. Kates was second with an 80, while Swiech took fifth with an 82 and freshman Adam Firkins had an 83 for sixth.
