N-Trip knocks off Corning CC in season opener

Niagara County Community College had five players in double figures as it opened the 2021-22 season with a 104-74 non-conference win over visiting Corning Community College on Tuesday night. 

The Thunderwolves, who had 22 assists and shot an impressive 55 percent from the field, improved to 1-0 overall. Corning CC dropped to 0-1.

NCCC freshman Allen Fordham was 4-for-6 from the 3-point line on his way to a game-high 18 points. Fellow frosh Aaron Miller had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds in the win, while first-year forward Manny Montero added 12 points off the bench.

Also for N-Trip, freshman LaMarqus Merchant Jr. netted 11 points, five assists and four boards and freshman big man Shemar McDonald chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

Bryce Smith had 16 points to lead the Red Barons.

The T-Wolves return to the court at 7:30 p.m. Wed. Nov. 10 at Lakeland Community College.
