NCCC cruises past Falcons

Host Niagara County Community College flew past non-conference foe Lackawanna College, 98-73, in the final game of its annual Tip-Off Classic on Sunday afternoon. The 13th-ranked Thunderwolves are now 3-1, while the Falcons fell to 1-2.

NCCC had six players reach double figures in the victory led by freshman guard Justin Hendrick's 13 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Lamar Lovelace had 12 points and freshman point guard LaMarqus Merchant Jr. added 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Also for N-Trip, freshman guard Allen Fordham had 11 points and five boards off the bench and freshman forward Manny Montero chipped in with 11 points of his own. Freshman post Shemar McDonald contributed 10 points and six rebounds in the win.

Magd Abelwahab had 23 points to lead Lackawanna.

The Thunderwolves continue their homestand with another non-conference game vs. Bryant & Stratton College of Ohio. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
