Niagara County Community College shot a blistering 52 percent as it pulled away in the second half of a 72-62 Western New York Athletic Conference road win at Monroe Community College on Saturday afternoon.
The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 16-4 overall and 1-0 in the WNYAC. MCC dropped to 4-10, 0-1.
NCCC freshman Lamar Lovelace had a team-high 21 points, while classmate Justin Hendrick finished with 16 points and seven rebounds in the win.
Also for N-Trip, freshman LaMarqus Merchant Jr. had 12 points, freshman Aaron Miller netted 11 and freshman Allen Fordham chipped in with 10.
Ishmael Smith had 17 points to lead the Tribunes.
The T-Wolves return home for a matchup vs. Jamestown Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
