Niagara County Community College fought for 110 minutes, but came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 double-overtime decision vs. visiting Cayuga Community College in Region III action on Friday evening. The Thunderwolves fell to 2-2, while the No. 8 Spartans moved to 3-1.
Cayuga's Isaac Bourne netted the game-winning tally with just over a minute remaining in the second extra session. Bourne had two goals to lead the Spartans, who trailed 1-0 at the half.
For NCCC, sophomore Jacob Fleck scored off a pass from classmate and former high-school teammate David Reilly. Freshman Tavier Stewart also scored and freshman goalkeeper Lucas Schiel made seven saves between the pipes.
The Thunderwolves return to action at 5 p.m. Tuesday when rival Erie Community College visits the Sanborn campus.
