Thunderwolves knock off perennial power MCC

Niagara County Community College picked up one of the biggest wins in program history as it knocked off perennial NJCAA Div. I power Monroe Community College, 4-1, in Region III action this past Friday at MCC's turf stadium. The Thunderwolves, an NJCAA Div. III program, improved to 2-1 overall while the Tribunes fell to 1-3-1.

NCCC freshman Reverence Hoyte broke open a tie game in the 71st minute with an unassisted tally. Classmate Taivier Stewart added another unassisted goal just seven minutes later to give Niagara the cushion it needed.

Sophomore David Reilly opened the scoring for NCCC and an own goal by the host Tribunes finished it. Freshman goalkeeper Lucas Schiel got the victory in net but had limited work due to lockdown defense in front of him, according to coach Kennet Fosuhene.

Matt Bamford scored the lone goal for Monroe CC.

NCCC returns to the pitch at 5 p.m. Friday when it hosts nationally-ranked Cayuga Community College in a key Region III contest.
