NCCC shuts out Panthers

Niagara County Community College picked up its first shutout of the season with a 2-0 Region III road victory over Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Friday afternoon. The Thunderwolves improved to 4-2 overall, while TC3 fell to 0-3-1. 

NCCC freshman goalkeeper Lucas Schiel had a clean slate after making eight saves. Classmate Mike Martinez opened the scoring in the 14th minute after he coverted a cross from freshman Taivier Stewart. Fellow first-year player Fritz Summer added insurance in the 63rd minute with an unassisted goal of his own.

The Thunderwolves will wrap up their regular-season slate with a matchup vs. No. 2 Mohawk Valley Community College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
