NCCC falls to Herkimer in regionals

Niagara County Community College fell behind 3-0 at the half before eventually dropping a 4-1 decision to host Herkimer College in a Region III Division III Pool B semifinal on Wednesday night at Wehrum Stadium.

The Thunderwolves, who were making their first postseason appearance since 2015, finished the year with an overall record of 7-7. The nationally-ranked Generals, meanwhile, improved to 9-1 and will play Mohawk Valley Community College for the Pool B championship.

Freshman Jay Yule netted the lone goal for NCCC. The striker finished the year with 20 goals, which was second in Region III and third in NJCAA Division III.

Fellow first-year player A.J. McMillan was credited with the assist. 

Mitchell Bourdeau scored twice and Ali Somow had a goal and two assists for Herkimer.
