NCCC splits with Tribunes

Niagara County Community College split a pair of important Region III Western Division games with visiting Monroe Community College on Tuesday.

In the midst of a battle for a postseason berth, the Thunderwolves moved to 8-4 in divisional games while the Tribunes are now 9-9.

NCCC returns to the diamond at 3 p.m. Thursday when it visits rival Erie Community College for another key doubleheader.

Monroe CC 11, Niagara CCC 4

The visitors scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a tie game. For N-Trip, freshman Jordan Dixon was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, freshman Makayla Montes went 1-for-2 with a two-run triple and classmate Lydia Serrano finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Niagara CCC 6, Monroe CC 4

Dixon threw 6.2 innings to help the T-Wolves get the split. The lefty allowed just six hits and one earned run. Serrano, who added two more RBIs, got the final out for her second save of the year. Freshman Maddie Burr had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Montes was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
