Emborsky wins special WNYAC award

Niagara County Community College sophomore basketball player Paige Emborsky was recently named 2019-20 Western New York Athletic Conference Academic Female Athlete of the Year, following a vote of conference athletic directors.

Emborsky was an NJCAA Division II second team All-American, Region III Player of the Year and the school's second all-time leading scorer with 1,011 career points. The two-year team captain also had a 3.90 GPA in Liberal Arts & Sciences, was a valuable member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Board and represented NCCC at several community events over the past two years. She signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and hoops career at NCAA Division I Abilene Christian University in Texas.

"A tremendous honor for a tremendous person," NCCC women's basketball coach Nate Beutel said. "Paige got it done on the court and in the classroom. She is someone all young female student-athletes should look up to. I can't thank her enough for all she did for NCCC and wish her nothing but the best at ACU."

Other conference award winners were: Vitor Chriguer de Goes Vieiera (Genesee CC, Men’s Soccer, Freshman Male Athlete of the Year), Ally Sobaszek (Monroe CC, Women's Volleyball, Freshman Female Athlete of the Year), Jordan Bushey (Niagara CCC, Wrestling, Senior Male Athlete of the Year), Jenna Caskey (Jamestown CC, Women's Volleyball, Senior Female Athlete of the Year), Jose Manoel Faria Cavalini (Genesee CC, Men’s Soccer, Academic Male Athlete of the Year) and Brian Dewey (Mercyhurst North East, Athletic Director, Distinguished Person Award).
