NCCC starts fast in win at Erie

Niagara County Community College used a stiffling defense to earn a 79-39 road win at Region III rival Erie Community College on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves forced 38 turnovers, racked up 28 steals and led 31-6 after the first 10 minutes. NCCC, which is ranked No. 12 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 23-1 overall and 4-0 in regional play.

Sophomore guard Cierra Harrison led the T-Wolves with a game-high 22 points, while classmate Nickelle O'Neil had 16 points, eight steals and five assists. Sophomore guard Paige Emborsky added 14 points and freshman guard Alaina Forbes had 10 points and four steals off the bench. 

Next up for NCCC is a trip to Mercyhurst North East. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
