Forbes named POY; Beutel is COY

Niagara County Community College sophomore Alaina Forbes was named Region III Division II Player of the Year following Saturday's championship win. She was a second team All-Region choice last season. The shooting guard started all 12 of the Thunderwolves' regular-season games and averaged 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per contest.

Joining Forbes on the All-Region first team was the NCCC tandem of Gabrielle McDuffie and Taylor Lockwood. McDuffie, a freshman, averaged a team-high 18.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game despite battling an injury for a portion of the season. Lockwood, a sophomore, averaged 10.3 points, 5.2 boards and 3.1 assists per night. The Jamestown CC freshman duo of Nadara O'Dell and Hannah Hicks also earned first-team honors.

NCCC head coach Nate Beutel, now in his ninth season, was named Region III Division II Coach of the Year.
