NCCC earns first victory of year

Niagara County Community College returned to the hardwood for the first time in over two weeks and earned its first win of the season, 90-74, over visiting Bryant & Stratton College of Buffalo on Monday night. The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 1-1 overall while the Bobcats fell to 9-6.

Freshman Gabrielle McDuffie stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds, nine steals and four assists in the victory. Classmate Kiya Marquez had 16 points, five boards and four assists, sophomore Alaina Forbes finished with 13 points, six assists and five steals and freshman Olivia Smith canned four 3-pointers for 12 points. Sophomore Taylor Lockwood added 11 points and four rebounds for NCCC, which shot 50 percent from the field and held a 54-30 lead at the half.

Alissa Johnson had a game-high 23 points to lead BSC Buffalo.

The T-Wolves return to action at 6 p.m. Wednesday when they host Bryant & Stratton College of Rochester.
