Niagara County Community College jumped out to a 67-34 halftime lead en route to a 109-83 road Region III win at Jamestown Community College on Wednesday. The Thunderwolves improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in regional play, while the Jayhawks fell to 2-5, 1-2.
Sophomore Alaina Forbes led the NCCC charge with 23 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Freshman Kiya Marquez had 21 points, 14 boards and four steals, classmate Aichata Ballo finished with 18 points and seven rebounds and fellow first-year player Ashley Tucker added 15 points, 12 boards and four steals. The T-Wolves held a 76-62 edge in rebounding in the win.
Hannah Hicks led JCC with 33 points and 15 rebounds.
Next up for N-Trip is a road date with Bryant & Stratton College of Albany. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Thursday.
