NCCC drops season opener to Falcons

Niagara County Community College made its long-awaited return to the court and dropped a tight 97-96 decision to nationally-ranked Lackawanna College on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves dropped to 0-1 overall, while the Falcons improved to 5-0.

NCCC sophomore Alaina Forbes led the T-Wolves with 26 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Gabrielle McDuffie finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Seven other Wolves got into the score column with each of them netting at least five points. 

Lackawanna's Jamiya Eaddy had a game-high 36 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with less than 20 seconds to go in the contest.

Next up for NCCC is its Region III opener against Jamestown Community College. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
