N-Trip knocks off Lackawanna

Host Niagara County Community College knocked off No. 18 Lackawanna College in non-conference action at its Tip-Off Classic on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves improved to 3-1, while the Falcons are now 1-1.

N-Trip, which out-scored the visitors 25-7 in a strong second-quarter effort, forced 26 turnovers. It also had 21 offensive rebounds in the victory.

NCCC freshman wing Gabrielle McDuffie led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Alaina Forbes had 14 points and six steals.

The freshman point-guard duo of Kiya Marquez and Aichata Ballo had strong outings as Marquez finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Ballo chipped in with 12 points and six boards.

Thays Torres had 13 points off the bench to lead Lackawanna.

The Thunderwolves continue their homestand with a key game vs. No. 20 Bryant & Stratton College-Ohio at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
