NCCC returns to action with victory

Niagara County Community College returned to the floor for the first time in 17 days and came away with an 89-62 non-conference victory over visiting Lorain County Community College on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Thunderwolves improved to 13-3 overall, while the Commodores dropped to 2-8.

NCCC, which was down several players due to illness, had six players finish in double figures led by freshman Gabrielle McDuffie, who notched 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

The freshman backcourt of Aichata Ballo (16 points, 8 assists, four steals, four assists) and Kiya Marquez (15 points, six rebounds, six steals, two blocks) stuffed the stat sheet in the win. 

Also for N-Trip, freshman Brianna Beebe finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, freshman Ashley Tucker notched 10 points and seven boards and freshman Ashlynn Johnson scored a career-high 10 points off the bench.

Vanecia Billings had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead Lorain CCC.

The T-Wolves have a quick turnaround as they host Lakeland Community College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
