NCCC opens WNYAC play with win

Niagara County Community College had five players in double figures as it opened up Western New York Athletic Conference play with a 93-70 win over visiting Jamestown Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 18-1 overall and 1-0 in WNYAC play.

NCCC freshman point guard Mia Little led the way with 15 points, four assists and three steals. Classmate Krystal Smith added 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench, while sophomore Tessa Schuey stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists.

Also for N-Trip, which forced 28 turnovers and corralled 23 offensive rebounds, freshman Makayla Thomas had 11 points and eight boards. Sophomore Faith Alessandra chipped in 11 points and five rebounds in the win.

The T-Wolves return to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when they travel to local rival Erie Community College.
