SUNY Niagara had a strong shooting performance in its 90-57 non-conference win against visiting Garrett College on Sunday afternoon. The No. 16 Thunderwolves (8-0 overall) shot 47 percent from the field, 39 percent from the 3-point line and 78 percent from the charity stripe.
Freshman Mackenzie Owens canned six 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 22 points. Sophomore Makayla Thomas stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals. Classmate Krystal Smith added a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Ava Bull chipped in 12 points and six boards.
SUNY Niagara has a quick turnaround with a road non-conference game slated for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Finger Lakes Community College.
