SUNY Niagara has strong second half

SUNY Niagara out-scored host Monroe Community College 51-15 after intermission on its way to an 86-42 Western New York Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night.

The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 18 in the most recent NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 22-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference. MCC, meanwhile, dropped to 13-11, 1-3. 

Freshman Atarah Walker led the charge with a career-high 21 points and 18 rebounds. Sophomore Krystal Smith added 16 points and five boards in the win.

Sophomore Makayla Thomas stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals, while classmate Anaya Smith chipped in 12 points and nine boards.

The T-Wolves return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday for a highly-anticipated home contest vs. Jamestown Community College.
