T-Wolves advance to National Tourney

Host SUNY Niagara held off hard-charging SUNY Sullivan, 64-60, in the East A District Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Thunderwolves, who led by as many as 15 points in the first half, improved to 27-3 overall. Sullivan fell to 12-7.

SUNY Niagara advances to the NJCAA Div. II Tournament, which will be played March 17-22 in Joplin, Missouri. This will be the program's fifth appearance at Nationals.

Sophomore Krystal Smith had a game-high 15 points, eight rebounds and six steals for the Wolves.

Freshman Isabella Karabetsos netted 13 points, while sophomore Makayla Thomas had 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Freshman Atarah Walker added 10 points and six boards off the bench. 

The Thunderwolves will learn their seed, opponent and game time during the NJCAA Div. II Selection Show at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
