NCCC knocks off Saints in tight match
Niagara County Community College won two matches by pinfall and two more by technical fall en route to a 29-19 win over Region III rival Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA poll, are now 7-3 overall and 3-0 in regional matches.
Freshmen Jaquan Johnson (285) and Josh Thibeault (174) scored impressive pins, while classmate Mason Gray (149) won 18-1 and sophomore Jordan Bushey (184) was an 18-0 winner. Freshman Christian Robinson (165) won via major decision, while sophomore Jacob Bell (125) scored a 3-0 decision.
Next up for the Thunderwolves is a road dual meet with Jamestown Community College at 5 p.m. Saturday. That's followed by the annual JCC Open at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
