Robinson earns MOW at Thunderwolves Open

Niagara County Community College 165-pound freshman Christian Robinson was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at this past weekend's Thunderwolves Open. Robinson, who is now 14-5 on the season, knocked off Garrett College's Davy Mundey 4-2 in an exciting championship match after a 16-0 tech-fall victory in the semifinals.

Fellow first-year grappler Devin Van Lengen took second at 197 pounds following a tough 8-2 setback to Samuel Mitchell of the University at Buffalo. He did, however, pick up a pinfall victory in the semifinals. Van Lengen is now 15-4 on the year.

Freshman Mason Gray finished third at 149 pounds after earning three tech-fall wins and a pinfall in a loaded bracket. Gray is also 14-5 this winter.

Other top finishers for NCCC included: freshman Josh McCoy (133, 5th), sophomore Jacob Bell (133, 6th), freshman Jacob Mancuso (141, 6th), sophomore Adam Mateo (174, 6th), freshman Josh Thibeault (184, 5th) and freshman Jaquan Johnson (285, 6th).
