NCCC tops Jayhawks in regional opener

Niagara County Community College opened up Region III action with an action-packed, come-from-behind 27-17 road win over longtime rival Jamestown Community College on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves are now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in regional duals, while the Jayhawks slip to 1-2, 0-1. 

Sophomore heavyweight Maurice Jackson earned NCCC's lone pin, while the trio of freshman Cole French (149), sophomore Steve Liebler (184) and sophomore Josh Thibeault (197) each won via technical fall. The sophomore tandem of David Crow (157) and Tommy Berner (165) won tight matches by decision.

Ross Abram (174) won by pin for JCC, which jumped out to a big lead with wins at 125, 133 and 141 pounds.

The T-Wolves return to the mats at Noon Saturday as Garrett College visits for a non-conference dual.
