NCCC opens season at Buffalo Duals

Niagara County Community College opened its season with a trio of matches against scholarship-level, four-year schools at the University at Buffalo Duals on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves return to action at 6 p.m. Friday for the annual Stenberg Duals hosted by Muskegon Community College. 

Glenville State 46, Niagara CCC 6

NCCC freshman Kace Cook pinned his opponent at 157 pounds for the squad's lone points against the nationally-ranked NCAA Div. II Pioneers. Fellow freshman Mike Catanzaro started strong, but could not close in his match vs. the returning National Champion at 133 pounds. 

Seton Hill 39, Niagara CCC 13

N-Trip freshman Kenny Blowers earned an impressive pin at 141 pounds to lead a strong showing against the NCAA Div. II Griffins. Sophomore Antoine Walker scored the other points for the T-Wolves, picking up a 12-7 victory at 149 pounds. 

Buffalo 49, Niagara CCC 0

Cook came the closest to an upset against the host NCAA Div. I Bulls, dropping a narrow 2-0 decision at 157 pounds. UB, meanwhile, had three wins by tech fall and two victories apiece by pinfall and forfeit.
